Driver Services - Owner Operator Detention Pay

Boyd Bros. pays to our owner operator partners 100% of all detention time collected from our customers. Drivers' time is important...and expensive. The more time spent sitting waiting to load and unload, the less time available to safely and legally drive the truck down the highway.

Much of our freight is set by appointment time, or set in a pick-up or delivery “window.” If the customer has requested a truck for a certain time and the driver is there at the appointed time, our expectation is that the truck will be loaded as soon as possible. If, however, the customer has over-scheduled and has created a back-log or delay, we would expect that customer to either pay Detention Pay, or make arrangements to load the Boyd freight as close to the appointment as possible.

Our Sales department monitors delays and begins working with the customer as soon as we are made aware of the drivers' delay. All of that is done to ensure that our driving force has sufficient time to make safe, on-time pick-ups and deliveries.
